ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

An applicant must:

 • Be a promising music student with demonstrated music ability who is a high school junior or senior student in a public,
    private, or parochial school in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

 • Plan to study music or have been accepted in a music program as a major or minor at a recognized or accredited institution
    of higher learning.
 

For scholarship consideration, please submit the following materials along with the completed application by the established deadline, Tuesday, March 31, 2015 to: THE ATTRUS C. FLEMING MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND, PO Box 90213, Washington, DC 20090-0213:

1) A photograph (which will not be returned).

2) A CD/DVD recording of a digital audio or video performance, including two contrasting pieces which should not exceed a
combined total of 15 minutes.  Audio file should be provided in .mp3 (preferred) or .wma format.  Video files should
be supplied in .mp4 (preferred) or .MOV format.  CDs/DVDs  will not be returned.

3) A letter of recommendation from a music teacher (including telephone number).

4) A character reference from a non-family member (including telephone number).
 

Judging Guidelines

  The academic school year competition will be judged on classical piano performance only.

  Applicants for the current scholarship award must submit all required materials by the established deadline.

  Applicants who do not submit all required materials will be excluded from consideration.

  Recordings of poor sound quality will be disqualified.

  Candidates performances will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges.

  Judges retain the right for their decisions to be based on one of the following options:

    1. Recorded performance from each candidate;
    2. In-person performance by each candidate at a closed, private portion of the competition (time permitting).

  Each candidate must supply his or her own accompanist for the closed, private performance, if necessary.

  Judges retain the right to award no scholarship in a given year.

  The decisions of the judges is final.
